Information on CONFORMANCE SEAL for flooring purchasers

History

Since ANPM foundation in 2001, one of the main objectives of ANPM is to work always searching the development of activities to improve the quality of products and services related to wooden flooring.
That way, the main action of ANPM has been the development of a Program of Quality that includes the following phases:

a) Elaboration of technical Specification for wooden flooring, being compatible with the main international specifications.
b) Evaluation of equipment, processes and products that contributes with the operational base for the Technical Specifications.
c) Development of Program of Quality that is the base for the establishment of Conformance Seal.

Meaning of the Conformance Seal

Conformity Seal, when stamped in wooden flooring, means that the products are being produced according to the Technical Specification of ANPM.
In order to have the right of using the Seal, manufacturing companies of flooring are periodically inspected by ANPM technicians.

Technical Specifications

The main general rule is that the pieces should be equally resistant and applicable. Any feature or problem is considered non conformities that may compromise the future installation and use of wooden flooring.

Tolerances

Defects:It involves several aspects such as folding, failures of tongue and groove and failures of surface, square, cracks, stains, holes and knots.
Thickness:Tolerance of about 0.20 mm compared to the nominal dimension.
Width:Tolerance of about 0.20 mm compared to the nominal dimension.
Moisture:Tolerance of about 1.5 % compared to the nominal moisture.

Nowadays the Seal is being used in products of Class 01 of quality. This class has greater strictness compared to the aesthetics aspects.

Starting of Program of Quality

ANPM intends to start the entire Program of Quality along with ABNT – Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (Brazilian Association of Technical Rules) and along INMETRO - Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Normalização e Qualidade Industrial (National Institute of Metrology, Ruling and Industrial Quality) that are the official ruling and certifying organizations of quality of brazil and they are internationally recognized.

In 2007, Quality Program and use of Seal will be working in experimental character aiming the identification of possible problems related to the evaluation and managing systems.
